"PHASE GATE"

My painting process evolves by alternating layers of opacity and translucency. Often described as either distant nebulae or firing neurons, these luminous layers of interconnectivity seem to be part of the natural world and yet, are somehow other.  Undulating structures emerge from these luminous nebulae in a light which is emitted, rather than cast, revealing a form which describes rather than defines. Together, they address this odd encounter between the natural and perceived world by provoking some interesting questions. If the distinction between light and space can no longer be determined, then what place is this? Where are we now?
